A famous feud

The gossip press was in full swing in 1954 with a two part series on Joan Crawford. Mercedes and Joan were starring in a film called Johnny Guitar. If you believe the story they apparently they had an ongoing dislike for each other, culminating in Mercedes having to visit a hospital after an altercation. The article also quotes Mercedes that she believes Crawford has built up so much power in the film industry that she can ‘lord it over’ the little people and that ‘everyone was afraid of her’
